7Song

7Song is a Western Clinical Herbalist and Director of the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine. He is also the Director of Holistic Medicine at the Ithaca Free Clinic, in Ithaca, NY. 7Song has been studying plants as an herbalist and botanist for over 25 years. His love of herbal medicine is deeply intertwined with his love of plants. He has focused extensively on using herbal medicine in first aid situations. He also looks to help make herbal medicine and other less conventional modalities affordable by incorporating herbalists and their medicines into free clinics in the US and abroad.

7Song speaks internationally and hopes to inspire others to take up this ages-old and evolving form of beautiful gatherable medicine. He has been practicing herbal medicine in many capacities for the past 20 years in both acute and chronic health care. He has worked at first aid medical stations at large outdoor gatherings, festivals and street protests. Some of the situations he has encountered at these events include infections, injuries, animal bites, endoparasites (food and water borne), viruses, and the like.

He has also worked with people’s long-term health concerns. He has recently come back from Nicaragua where he worked with Natural Doctors International in a number of health clinics on the island of Ometepe.

He was on the original organizing committee for the Ithaca Free Clinic and has been working there since they opened their doors in January 2006. It is a mixed modality clinic (conventional and holistic practitioners), and he is the staff herbalist. This clinic is both satisfying as an herbalist and in addressing his concern about making herbal medicine accessible and affordable. The clinic sees a wide range of long-term health conditions. All services and medicines are free.

7Song feels herbalists can offer a lot to their communities as both health care practitioners and helping people learn the plants around them.
