7th Annual International Restorative Medicine Conference
Sedona, Arizona, October 21-24, 2009
Session A: Restoring Endocrine and Metabolic Health
Featuring certification in the treatment of Wilson's Temperature Syndrome
Session B: Nutritional and Botanical Medicine Approach to Chronic Disease
Themes for this year's conference:
INTRODUCTION
We invite you to beautiful Sedona, Arizona for the 7th Annual International Restorative Medicine Conference. Taking place from October 21-24, this four day conference for physicians and health care professionals includes two separate session.
The term ‘Restorative Medicine’ was coined to describe the use of bioidentical hormones, botanical medicines, and nutritional supplements to assist the body’s innate mechanisms in returning to healthy equilibrium. The goal of Restorative Medicine is to help patients regain and maintain optimal health after treatment has ended. Our conferences are geared towards providing you with practical information and effective protocols that can be directly applied in practice. The Restorative Medicine Conference draws a diverse group of health care professionals to learn together in a relaxed and friendly environment.
We are honored to have an outstanding group of lecturers this year, including: Gerrie Lindeque, MD, Jill Stansbury, ND, and William Shaw, PhD. Continuing Medical Education Credits will be available for MDs, DOs, NDs and other health care practitioners for both sessions.
The 2009 Restorative Medicine Conference consists of 2 Sessions that will be running concurrently over the four day conference. Participants are welcome to choose freely from any classes in either sessions. Practitioners interested in certification in the WT3 Protocol and WTSmed Supplements will need to attend the first 3 days of Session A.
Please join us and enjoy the splendor of the fresh air and desert canyon display of autumn in Sedona, Arizona. We hope to see you there!
Restorative Medicine and Longevity
The study of aging is involved with two important questions:
- how to slow down (within reason) the aging process
- how to make the effects of aging less harmful
It is not known exactly how and why aging occurs, but some authorities believe it is partly caused by a disruption in homeostasis. Restorative Medicine is the process of restoring the body's homeostasis or equilibrium using natural substances, and the treatment for Wilson's Temperature Syndrome (WTS) is a prime example. Wilson's Temperature Syndrome is a cluster of debilitating symptoms caused by physical, mental, or emotional stress. It can persist after the disease has passed (due to maladaptive slowing of the metabolism) and responds to the normalization of body temperature patterns. WTS is characterized by a body temperature that runs, on average, below normal and routine thyroid blood tests that are often in the normal range. The condition is best identified by a reproducible and predictable response (positive) to the normalization of body temperature. This slowing down of the metabolism could be described as "a coping mechanism that has run amuck."
WTS sufferers often look and feel much older than their actual age. However, what has become clear after years of experience using the WTS protocol is that this disruption in thyroid homeostasis is correctable. Using specially compounded T3 preparations, botanical medicine and nutrition, proper thyroid function and optimal health can be restored.
The 2009 Restorative Medicine Conference will have a strong focus on the anti-aging benefits of the WTS treatment protocol using T3. If aging is, in part, due to a disruption of thyroid homeostasis, the WTS protocol can help to reach the two goals of anti-aging and have patients lead longer, healthier lives.
The featured speaker for anti-aging will be Karan Baucom, MD, OBGYN.
Naturopathic Medicine
The human body is a wonderful mechanism. It is capable of amazing feats of restoration and rebuilding after illness or injury, and this is best done assisted by nature. Wilson's Temperature Syndrome represents an organ system "out of balance", one in which the natural healing life force has been blocked or thwarted. It is frequently misdiagnosed and brought on by physical, emotional or mental stress. The treatment for Wilson's Temperature Syndrome involves the use of specially compounded thyroid hormone preparations, that slowly influence proper thyroid functioning again. It is a classic use of natural substances to heal illness. Wilson's Temperature Syndrome can also be treated using WTSmed supplements, naturally prepared compounds. In both cases, the preparations are natural and safe, and the physician and patient work together. And also, in both cases, these treatments restore patients to their optimal health and then the therapeutic regimens can be discontinued.
The featured speaker for this section of the conference will be Jill Stansbury, ND.
Complementary, Alternative, Integrative Medicine
Increasingly, physicians are realizing the benefits of alternative and complementary medical techniques and therapies. As well, these same physicians are beginning to incorporate these treatments with the more traditional conventional medicine. The goal is not merely relief of symptoms, although that is certainly important; the goal is to RESTORE patients to their optimal health, using new integrative techniques using the best of both worlds - alternative and conventional medicine - and thus the term Restorative Medicine. To this end physicians are working with chelation, heavy metal detoxification, hyperbaric oxygen, bioidentical hormones, new approaches to nutrition, and many other therapeutic modalities.
The featured speaker for this section of the conference will be Jay Mead, MD.
