Session 1: Restoring Endocrine and Metabolic Function and Certification in the WT3 Protocol and WTSmed Supplements (Level 1)

Conference Registration Check-In is between 6 to 10 PM on Sunday evening and between 8 and 9 AM on Monday morning at the Stowe Mountain Inn Lobby. Session 1 is located in the Mansfield Ballroom.

Monday Sept 29th

7:30-9:00 Breakfast
9:30-10:30

T3 Science and WTS Overview, Michael Friedman ND
This course will cover the use of T3 as a restorative treatment approach towards healing and disease. Dr. Friedman will provide a basic overview of the T3 science and WTS. The physiology behind WTS will be explained and the mechanisms of T3 as a restorative agent for increasing body temperature will be outlined. Nutritional and botanicals in the use of increasing T3 levels will also be discussed.

10:30-11:00 Break
11:00-12:00 T3 Uses and T3 Cycling, Denis Wilson MD
The goals of the WTS protocol are to help the patient become symptom-free, restore their metabolic system to optimal functioning, and do so without the need for extended treatment. These goals are accomplished by cycling the T3 hormone until the medication can be discontinued. This class will instruct the participants on the proper application of this process.
12:00-1:00 T3 Uses and T3 Cycling, Denis Wilson MD
This class will be a continued discussion of the ideas and concepts presented in the previous session.
1:00-2:15 Lunch
2:30-3:30 Treating WTS with Nutrition and Herbals, Sponsored by WTSmed, Alex McLellan ND
This course outlines causes and treatment of Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome (low body temperature with normal thyroid blood tests). Causes discussed will include dysfunctional stress responses, restricted caloric intake, chronic infections, food, and airborne allergies. Treatment modalities will focus on nutritional and botanical treatments including diet, vitamins, minerals, and nutritional supplements that affect body temperature. The course will be practical with a good mix of theory and case studies
3:30-4:30 OrthoiodoSupplementation, Jorge Flechas MD
Orthoiodosupplementation is the process of correct iodine supplementation. Iodine is a trace mineral that is needed for the formation of thyroid hormones. Recent research also indicates that certain concentrations of iodine will inhibit some cancers. The biochemistry and the specific indications—as well as interactions with other drugs and T3—will be covered.
4:30-5:30 T3 Uses and T3 Cycling, Denis Wilson MD
This session will continue the work of the previous two sessions on T3 uses and T3 cycling.

Tuesday Sept 30th
7:30-9:00 Breakfast
9:30-10:30 T3 Uses and T3 Weaning, Denis Wilson MD
The goal of the WTS protocol is to restore the patient to optimal health, not to make them forever dependent on a medication. If T3 supplements were given indefinitely, the endogenous production of T3 would be suppressed. Using the WTS protocol, the T3 supplements are given for a period of time and gradually weaned as the endogenous system gains strength and is able to produce sufficient T3 on its own. No two patients are the same, and this class will discuss an individualized approach to the WTS weaning protocol.
10:30-11:00 Break
11:00-12:00 Hashimoto's Disease/Graves' Disease, Michael Friedman ND
Hashimoto’s disease and Graves' disease are thyroid disorders that can make WTS difficult to recognize and treat. This course will help clinicians using the WTS protocol become aware of their relation to WTS. Clinicians will also be introduced to their effect on body temperature and how they affect hormone production. Specific use of T3, botanicals, and nutrition for treatments will be discussed.
12:00-1:00 WTSmed Supplements in Adrenal and Thyroid Dysfunction, Sponsored by WTSmed, Michael Friedman ND
In this class, the use of WTSmed supplements in adrenal and thyroid dysfunction will be discussed. The importance of the adrenal system for the success of the WTS protocol will be covered and WTSmed supplements that address this issue will be introduced. As well, the proper use of WTSmed supplements for treating thyroid dysfunction will be discussed.
1:00-2:15 Lunch
2:30-3:30 Treating Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome, Sponsored by WTSmed, Alex McLellan ND
Obesity and the metabolic syndrome are epidemic in North America. This course will discuss a range of natural treatment options using vitamins, minerals, nutritional supplements, hormones, and botanical medicines. A special focus will be bio-identical hormones that increase fat burning. The sequelae of obesity and the metabolic syndrome, such as diabetes and dyslipidemia, will be discussed and participants will learn ways to correct these potentially serious endocrine imbalances. A blend of case studies, research studies, and practical tips will be used to relate strategies for managing these conditions. The role of diet and exercise in treating obesity and metabolic syndrome will also be covered.
3:30-4:30 Clinical Guidelines for a Successful WTS Practice, Tedde Rinker DO
To use the WTS protocol successfully, physicians must understand that the goal of the protocol is to restore health, not just treat symptoms. This means that the physician will need to learn new approaches for assessing, treating, prescribing, and follow-up care. This class will discuss practical and theoretical issues that arise when this new approach to care is implemented and provide solutions for common problems that arise.
4:30-5:00 Break
5:00-6:00 Certification Exam: Become a Certified Member of WTS treating Physicians and receive referrals from our website, which recieves 300,000 hits per year (free trial for the rest of the year followed by a $180 annual administrative fee). * Physicians note that they have recieved between 6 referrals a year and 6 referrals a week from the website. This is an open book exam and there is no charge for taking it. You have only one hour to take the exam and must only rely on your book. Group work is not allowed. Over the past five years, 70% of people who have attended all the classes have passed the exam. You may retake the exam once at home if necessary.
