Session 1: Restoring Endocrine and Metabolic Function (Level 2, intended for people who have already attended at least one Session 1)

Conference Registration Check-In is between 6 to 10 PM on Sunday evening and between 8 and 9 AM on Monday morning at the Stowe Mountain Inn Lobby. Session 1 (level 2) is located in the Toll House Room.

Monday Sept 29th
7:30-9:00 Breakfast
9:30-10:30 Practical Tips in using T3 and WTSmed Supplements as a Family and ER Physician, Sponsored by WTSmed, Gerrie Lindeque MD
Family physicians and ER physicians are often looking for solutions to clinical problems that aren’t solved with standard medical therapies. Herbal medicine has been shown to be a safe and effective alternative and complementary therapy, but many physicians have little knowledge about how to use it. This class will provide practical tips for family and ER physicians on how to integrate herbal medicine into their practices.
10:30-11:00 Break
11:00-12:00 Practical Tips on using T2, T3, Botanicals, and Nutraceuticals in Autoimmune Thyroid Disease, WTS, Obesity, CFS and FM, Sponsored by WTSmed, Michael Friedman ND
The metabolic effects of T3 and T2 have shown significant effects in weight loss at high enough doses. The safe and effective administration of these hormones will be discussed with a focus on the published research of Dr. Friedman. The use of herbs and minerals has shown a very significant effect on decreasing antibodies in autoimmune disease of the thyroid. Laboratory testing and therapeutics will be discussed.
12:00-1:00 Clinical Uses of DHEA in Medical Practice, Jorge Flechas MD
DHEA is thought to be a pre-hormone involved in the production of other hormones. It may be useful in boosting the production of other hormones and treating PMS, arthritis, and stress. This class will discuss the medical uses of DHEA compounds from a theoretical and practical standpoint.
1:00-2:15 Lunch
2:30-3:30 Patient Case Studies in WTS, Denis Wilson MD
The WTS protocol is relatively easy to understand in principle, but each patient is unique, as is the physician’s approach to their health concerns. This class will allow physicians who have used the WTS protocol to discuss difficult, challenging, and puzzling cases with their peers.
3:30-4:30 Vitamin D3 and Hashimotos Disease, David Lescheid PhD, ND
There is strong evidence that the vitamin D3 endocrine system contributes to the pathogenesis of certain autoimmune diseases. This class will discuss the role of vitamin D3 in autoimmunity, in particular its role in the development and treatment of Hashimoto’s disease.
4:30-5:30 Work up for Bio-identical Hormones for Female and Male Clients Part 1, Karan Baucom MD, OBGYN
As an OBGYN who has focused a medical practice on bio-identical hormones and WTS, Dr. Baucom will explain the basics of diagnosing and properly treating male and female patients.

Tuesday Sept 30th
7:30-9:00 Breakfast
9:30-10:30 Work up for Bio-identical Hormones for Female and Male Clients Part 2, Karan Baucom MD, OBGYN
As an OBGYN who has focused a medical practice on bio-identical hormones and WTS, Dr. Baucom will explain the basics of diagnosing and properly treating male and female patients.
10:30-11:00 Break
11:00-12:00 Heavy Metal Effects on the Endocrine System, William Shaw PhD
This presentation will focus on the damaging effects of heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, aluminum and others, the mechanism of their effect on the endocrine system, and ways to detect and treat high levels of these metals. The talk will also include the various sources of heavy metal toxicity and mention the importance, and positive role of, minerals for normal development and neurological functioning.
12:00-1:00 Adrenal Treatment Protocols Part 1, Tedde Rinker DO
Bio-identical hormones, cortisol, DHEA, pregnenalone, and adaptogens are all crucial components of the endocrine system and they can be successfully used with the WTS protocol for correcting many disorders. This class will outline the theory behind the use of these compounds as well as offer practical suggestions for using them to treat patients.
1:00-2:15 Lunch
2:30-3:30 Adrenal Treatment Protocols Part 2, Tedde Rinker DO
Bio-identical hormones, cortisol, DHEA, and adaptogens are all crucial components of the endocrine system, and they can be successfully used with the WTS protocol for correcting many disorders. This class will outline the theory behind the use of these compounds as well as offer practical suggestions for using them to treat patients.
3:30-4:30 Practical Tips for a physician using WTSmed Supplements, sponsored by WTSmed, Michael Kowalski AP
Herbs and natural supplements have been successfully used for thousands of years to restore the functioning of every major organ system. Dr. Kowalski, an Acupunture Physician, will cover the use of WTSmed supplements in a WTS practice: which supplements to use, when to use them, how to use them, and how they work.
4:30-5:00 Break
5:00-6:00 Metabolic Effects of Fungal Infections in Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, William Shaw PhD
Dr. Shaw will discuss production of toxic compounds by yeast/fungi residing in the GI tract and in tissues. His talk will include the metabolic effects due to an overgrowth of yeast on the mucosal lining of the intestine. The implications for chronic pain syndromes and autoimmune conditions will be covered. One of the newest areas of interest is the production of oxalates by Candida species. The oxalate connection with vulvodynia has been well-established, and anti-fungal treatment may mitigate these symptoms. Treatment of GI dysbiosis and re-establishment of healthy gut flora are essential to returning to the homeostatic conditions and restoring overall health.
